Mainstreaming emission reductions and management of the overall footprint has become more of a Board Room discussions within Businesses. However challenges of aggressively shifting core business investments to transformative low carbon options still remain for a major chunk of private sector players – having to balance out long term profitability and quarter-to-quarter investor sentiments. Carbon Pricing comes in as an effective tool in this regard, by bringing in financial implications and building in the actual costs of emissions within overall business models thereby bringing about the much needed change. Indian businesses have been actively exploring various options to internally price carbon whether via a shadow price for decision making or actually taxing operating units. The session would highlight some of the key experiences and learnings in this journey of some progressive companies mainly spanning operations across economies on a cusp of explosive growth.
