Getting to Net Zero - Raising the Ambition on Global Climate Action

Understanding what net zero means and how to deliver on this is one of the main existential issues of the climate community presently. Several initiatives have embarked on efforts to define net zero, focusing on aspects relating to advancing action in this regard.

There is still a need to bring together all these thought processes to build a strong consensual understanding on the objectives and criteria that underpin such targets and further the understanding of how to measure the integrity, and as such the ambition of the actions to be undertaken.

This event will serve to raise the critical issues relating to what net zero means to different stakeholders, the range of strategies and interventions needed to achieve this and clarify some of the definitional issues around these (e.g. offsets and removals) as well as reflect on the different roles carbon pricing policies and measures can play in incentivizing action towards net zero.

Jointly organized by the CPLC, the Environment Defense Fund and the Zero Carbon Campaign.
